Eraser-Free Sudoku, Volume A (ISBN: 0-9762888-9-3)
Do U Sudoku?
That seems to be the question everyone is asking. Since this addictive
little 9-by-9 number puzzle
was introduced in the London papers in 2004 it has become an
international phenomenon.
Oddly enough, Sudoku and I have a personal connection -- we both started
appearing in Dell crossword magazines at the same time, 1980. I still
have a few issues of Dell from the early '80s that contain both a
"Number Place" puzzle (as Dell used to call it) and a crossword by me in
the back.
At the time I tried working the puzzles but never got very far because
solving hints were never provided. Now that I know "the Three
Strategies" (as I call them), it's a whole new game!
But oh, the constant erasing! I hate it! Plus, I like to solve in pen.
So rather than wait for someone else to do it, a friend of mine and I
created "Eraser-Free Sudoku" -- where every vacant square has a
"ScratchPad" at the bottom for writing in the "possibles." In other
words, in this Sudoku book, erasing is optional.
The book contains 90 big puzzles, two per page -- 40 Easy's, 40
Medium's, and 10 Hard's. And ... I reveal "the Three Strategies." So if
Sudoku has baffled you up to now, it won't any more!
Happy solving! --Merl
