Merl Reagle's Crossword

"September Story"
NOTE: The old Roman calendar had only 10 months and started in March - until January and February were added at the front. This is why September, which means "seven," used to be the seventh month but is now the ninth. (An oft-heard reason for the pushback is that July and August were added because of Julius and Augustus Caesar. Not so. Two existing months were simply renamed for them.) Which is a long way of saying that it doesn't take much to inspire me to make a puzzle.
